Running out of gas mid-week in Padstow does not have to mean a long drive or a cold evening. Gas Shack makes Calor-style bottle exchange straightforward for homes, holiday lets, caravans and local businesses across North Cornwall.
Whether you need a propane cylinder for heating or a patio bottle for outdoor dining, swapping an empty for a full bottle is usually faster than waiting on a distant depot. Here is how the exchange process works and which popular sizes we stock as live products.
How bottle exchange works at Gas Shack
- Check your empty bottle size and gas type (propane, butane or patio).
- Order the matching refill or new bottle online, or call ahead for collection.
- Bring your empty cylinder when you collect, or arrange delivery/exchange on your route.
- We supply the filled bottle ready to connect with the correct regulator for your appliance.
Popular exchange sizes for Padstow customers include the 13kg Propane Gas Bottle, 19kg Propane Gas Bottle, and the big-capacity 47kg Propane Gas Bottle for homes and commercial kitchens.
Patio and leisure bottles
Outdoor heaters and many BBQs use patio gas. We keep the 5kg Patio Gas Bottle and 13kg Patio Gas Bottle available for exchange and new supply. See the full patio gas collection for Cornwall outdoor living.
Local tips for a smooth swap
- Keep a spare bottle if you run a holiday let or busy BBQ season — Cornwall weekends get busy.
- Never mix regulators; propane and butane fittings differ.
- Store empties upright outdoors, away from drains and ignition sources.

Why Padstow customers prefer local exchange
Driving empties to a distant depot wastes time and fuel. A Padstow-based swap keeps holiday lets, fish restaurants and caravan parks running through peak season. Tell us your bottle size when you order so we can stage the filled cylinder for a quick handover. If you need multiple sizes — propane for heating and patio gas for outdoor dining — we can usually combine them in one collection or delivery run across Cornwall.
Exchange is not only for Calor-branded cylinders you already own — new bottle options remain available when you are starting fresh or expanding stock for a second property. Gas Shack staff can confirm compatibility when you collect in Padstow, which is especially helpful if you have inherited an appliance with an unfamiliar regulator. Clear labelling on empties speeds the counter process and reduces mix-ups between propane and patio threads.
