Dangerous Goods Notice

LPG is a hazardous material

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) — including propane, butane and all gas cylinders sold by Gas Shack — is classified as a hazardous material under the Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), which applies in the United Kingdom. This means that the storage, transport, handling and use of LPG cylinders is subject to specific legal requirements.

Why we cannot use couriers

LPG cylinders cannot be collected, posted or delivered by standard courier services including Royal Mail, Parcelforce, DPD, DHL, Hermes, Amazon Logistics or any similar service. These carriers are not licensed or equipped to handle dangerous goods of this classification. All Gas Shack deliveries are made exclusively by our own qualified team using our own vehicles, which are properly equipped and maintained for the safe carriage of dangerous goods.

Customer responsibilities

By purchasing LPG cylinders from Gas Shack you confirm that you understand the following. You will store cylinders safely in a ventilated outdoor space away from heat sources, ignition sources and drains. You will not store cylinders inside a building, vehicle, basement or any enclosed space. You will ensure cylinders are used only with compatible appliances and regulators. You will turn off cylinder valves when appliances are not in use. You will inspect hoses and connections regularly and replace them if damaged. You will follow all manufacturer instructions for the appliances connected to your gas supply.

Age restriction

LPG gas cylinders cannot be sold to persons under 18 years of age. This is a legal requirement under the Gas (Amendment) Act. By placing an order you confirm you are 18 or over. Our delivery team will not hand over cylinders to anyone they believe to be under 18.

Emergency procedures

If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, turn off the supply at the cylinder valve immediately. Do not operate any electrical switches. Open all windows and doors. Do not smoke or use naked flames. Leave the building or vehicle and move to a safe distance. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from outside the building. Do not re-enter until declared safe by the emergency service.

Reporting a safety concern

If you have any concern about a cylinder supplied by Gas Shack — including unusual smell, visible damage, valve issues or any safety-related matter — please contact us immediately on 01841 532390 or email info@gasshack.uk. Do not attempt to use a cylinder you are concerned about.
